Rocketship Discovery Prep,

?We envision families utilizing the garden as a source for nutritious and organic food alternatives in the food desert that they predominantly live in.? -Bridget Keating, Principal at Rocketship

Rocketship has a vision of a future that we at Healthy Planet share. Located in a food desert, Rocketship would like to see their urban community gain access to fresh food, as well as to healthy food education. Given that most families in the Rocketship community qualify for free or reduced school lunch, the parents and teachers do not have the resources nor funding to maintain their small garden.

Their current garden was created by the parents and students of Rocketship in collaboration with Garden 2 Table. They have a Silicon Valley HealthCorps volunteer who adds to the garden experience, but they are lacking a structured curriculum, a few more garden beds to engage all the interested students, and time to plan and implement a sustainable school garden program.

Rocketship has a vision. They are full of passion and ideas, like their idea to create a garden mentor program between the older students and younger students! They want to do so many things, but first they need your help.

With a donation of $5 you could buy a child a pair of gardening gloves.

With a donation of $20 you could buy a shovel for the students to share.

With a donation of $100 you could buy two garden beds where children and parents can learn and play for years to come.
