“It is an all time dream of ours to have a school garden where students and teachers together can gather and extend their learning in a hands-on, real-life setting. ?We know a safe garden, where students and their families can pick fresh fruits and vegetables, will be a huge asset for our school” ~Kelley Rabasco, School Principal
Le Mesa Dale Elementary School is a Title I school with many students living in apartments or military housing. ?Many of the families who attend our school do not have yards of their own to grow food and garden. Our students and our community are grateful for even the smallest of opportunities. ?In addition, our students, families, and community would love to give back as they are able, and help to keep our garden up and running once fully established.
The children at La Mesa have the perfect climate to grow a garden plus wonderful community partnerships that support and educate students about where food comes from, waste reduction and healthy eating education. ?By helping build a garden at La Mesa you will be contributing to the education of the students and helping to inspire a new generation of conscious eaters.
