?If there was a program we could use we would all be on board…Our school would love something like this!? -Lia Freitas, Teacher at Catholic Academy
This small school has a big heart. With only ten teachers and a handful of volunteers, Catholic Academy serves around 200 students. After managing to stay afloat through financial struggles and lack of community support their first year, Catholic Academy was able to create a curriculum focused on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM+), a novel program in the school district. A great way to encourage STEM+ learning is through experimentation, and what better place to experiment than in a garden!
Though the school has a 1 – 2 small garden beds, there is little time and no resources to plan curriculum, designate garden duties, and buy the tools, seeds and soil necessary to grow food.
Catholic Academy would love to have a thriving and instructive garden, and integrate garden curriculum into their current programs, but they need your help to do it. Your donation will increase the size and impact of their school garden, and help the students at Catholic Academy learn about science through food!
