Baywood Elementary School,

“We are presently working on a Healthy Kids initiative so this [garden] would be a great extension of our work!” ? Maria Majka, Baywood Principal

Baywood Elementary School has wanted a garden for years. After a collaborative effort from the PTA, the staff and the Healthy Kids initiative, a few small garden beds were built in 2010. However, the garden had trouble thriving due to a shady location not visible to many people. Despite all this, the school still receives a tremendous amount of support from class parents and the PTA, which has enabled their Healthy Kids initiative to thrive!

In order to use the garden and capitalize on the excitement of the Healthy Kids initiative, Baywood needs a new, larger garden in a more visible and engaging location. Baywood also needs a set of garden-based curriculum that the teachers can use to bring the classroom to the garden.

With your help, Baywood’s current garden program can become a school-wide success. Any donation amount will help them reach their goal to build a new garden, improve their garden curriculum and teach their students the benefits of healthy eating!
