School gardens are a wonderful way to help build a connection between nature and the students. School gardens not only help teach valuable concepts of gardening but also help the students accomplish educational goals and understand the importance of social responsibility towards nature and our planet. One school that values this ideology is Fletcher Elementary, who with the support of its students, staff and parents built a beautiful school garden under the guidance of Healthy Planet recently.
Fletcher promotes the idea of combining classroom education with outdoor activities for maximum learning. The parents of these students also think that through gardening, students can learn the importance of patience, teamwork, and co-operation, while eating healthy, real food.
