Thanks to each schools extended networks we’ve raised over $3,500 so far! We know we have a ways to go to reach our goal though, so we’ll be out at different events through-out the next 6 weeks, talking to the community about our Healthy Growing school garden program and encouraging them to grow with us!
We were out in Union City this past weekend at Soulciety’s We Got Soul event. Since Healthy Growing is all about learning where food comes from and how it’s made, we went cherry-crazy this past weekend! And what cherry booth would be complete without a cherry-pit spitting contest…
This Sunday we’ll be at the Divisadero Farmers Market…come say hi and remember to keep sharing our campaign with your friends!
Thanks everyone! I’ll leave you with a few cherry facts…
- Cherries have a higher antioxidant capacity than grapes, oranges, plums, raspberries, and strawberries combined.
- There are more than 1000 varieties of cherries in the US, but fewer than 10 are produced commercially.
- Maraschino cherries were outlawed during Prohibition, but eventually the liqueur was eliminated.
